The rules of Casino War
Casino War is a two-player game where the highest card wins, so learning to play could not be easier. What's more, once you've read this quick guide, there are plenty of online casinos out there that will let you play Casino War in free mode to get the hang of it. But first, here is how you play:
- The dealer splits the deck, which usually consists of six standard decks without jokers. Aces are always high.
- The player places a bet; the main bet is known as the Ante, but some casinos also allow a Tie bet, which means betting on the likelihood of the dealer and player drawing the same number.
- Both players draw. If the dealer's card is a higher number, you lose. If your card is higher, you win 2:1 of your Ante bet.
- If both cards are the same, it gets a little more complicated! If you have placed a Tie bet, you win 10:1 what you bet.
- The player then decides between 'War' or 'Surrender'. If you Surrender, you lose half your bet. If you go to War, you must double your original wager.
- The dealer then deals another hand. If the player wins, they get their money back. If the dealer wins, the player loses the double bet.

The standard 6-deck game means there are 312 cards in play, which nobody could keep track of, except perhaps the beat-all Aces. However, ace-counting aside there is still a certain amount of strategy and skill you can employ to win prizes on Casino War.
The basis of Casino War strategy is probability and wise betting. If a tie bet is offered, it's worth bearing in mind that the likelihood of getting a tie is very low (there are 24 of each number in a 312-card deck) but the reward is high; even a 1-credit bet will pay out 10. The other important thing to remember is that in a tie situation, War is a 50/50 toss-up for double your wager, which might seem risky, but if you surrender, you are 100 per cent sure to lose half your wager.
